National Day of Mourning for Mudslide Victims in China

Chinese government and consulates call on Sunday as national mourning day for those who had perished in the tremendous mudslide that struck the county of Zhouqu a week ago. Half-mast is ordered to all Chinese embassies all across the nation.

Xinhua news agency had recorded 1, 156 casualties and 588 still not found. But according to the residents the actual number was much higher.  Before the month of May ended, toll of affected people in China reached 400 million already.
