Makeup Tips: Choosing the Right Makeup Foundation

Foundations are considered as women’s best friends during times of breakouts, skin blemishes and acne scarring. They can hide such flaws evenly making women skins look smoother and younger-looking. However, foundations can be also the main cause of such unwanted marks and uneven skin tone if not properly applied or matched with your skin needs.

A good face foundation can either be in powder or liquid form. There are numerous shades available wherein you can choose the perfect one for you. These foundations can also be water-based or oil-based. The two must be carefully observed before buying for any face foundation. Consider your face skin; if you have oily type of skin go for water-based foundations and if you have dry skin you can get along with the oil-based ones. There are also faces with some oily parts especially on the T-zone areas and dry on the other parts. You can apply the oil-based foundation on the dry area and the water-based on the oily T-zone.

In covering blemishes it is advisable to apply the foundation thinly one after the other rather than putting it on thickly in one application. This will leave your face a cakey look. Whereas, when you apply it in minimal amount you will be able to achieve the flawless look you want. Two to three thin coats will do depending on the coverage you desire. After doing so, you can set in your foundation by a loose powder foundation using a wide brush in circular motion. This will make your foundation stay longer.

Foundations with essential minerals that can moisturize your skin and SPF are recommended to use. This will not only give you a smooth finish but protects your skin from free radicals. Even if you are out for longer hours you will not worry about damaging your skin from the ultraviolet rays of the sun. Another quality to look in a good foundation is its ability to lighten your blemishes and acne scars. These foundations have special formulas of vitamin C and salicylic acid working to exfoliate your skin while wearing them.
